BIOGRAPHY

Born on the island of Florianópolis - Brazil, Cynthia Levitan is a puppet maker and a doll artist. Graduated in Visual Arts on University of the State of Santa Catarina (UDESC) and in Product Design on Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Santa Catarina (IFSC). Currently lives in Portugal, doing her PhD in Design from the University of Porto and also being a collaborative member of the I2ADS - Institute of Research in Art, Design and Society. 

She works with puppets in the practical and theoretical field, and research about how this object can contribute for the comprehension of self-identity. The journey through this fascinating universe came from the experience as a sculpturist in Stop Motion animation movies. It was at this moment that she started to work into the clear and obscure world of the puppets and dolls and assumed her authentic passion for sculpture, puppets and animation. Nowadays, in addition to finishing her PhD, she is starting a project as director of an animated film called Forbidden Love.
